Pleasant workplace, pleasant colleagues

Corporate social responsibility is not only about the measures in terms of energy, it is also about the well-being of employees. A pleasant and sustainable office is a surefire way to kill two birds with one stone: better employee well-being and a reduction in your ecological footprint.

It goes without saying that employees are the focal point at Encon. The layout and planning of the building are fully adapted to a unique way of working.

An often underestimated fact, but poor acoustics can hinder concentration and increase the risk of burnout. That is why good acoustics are an important focal point. The ceiling with holes throughout the building ensures sound absorption and optimises acoustical performance in every room. The offices have also been given extra attention with special filters in the windows, durable and damping carpet, insulated doors and even insulation in the cupboards towards adjoining offices to ensure optimum concentration.

The actual office spaces have also been optimised in other areas to create ideal working conditions. For example, the separate office spaces can accommodate up to four people, three of which are fixed spots and one flex area. Studies show that a room with more than four people is detrimental to concentration. We also use Human Centric Lighting, which adapts the light colour to the time of day. The mornings are lit with a softer and brighter light, while afternoons are lit with a whiter and brighter light to counteract the well-known midday dip.

We also take the employees into account when setting up the office rooms. These are all located with a view to the outside so that there is also plenty of natural light. The interior is designed to allow our employees to escape from the daily stress and bustle. Concentration within the office spaces, a chat and a moment of relaxation in the break-outs.

Everything in the meeting rooms is geared towards stimulating creativity. For example, we have several smaller rooms where there are no chairs. Yet, these are the most commonly used rooms of them all. The space stimulates short, efficient and creative working. The small screen next to the door can be used to book a meeting room via mobile phone and Outlook. Everyone has their own code. This allows everyone to indicate how long they will be using the room and keep other colleagues informed. Optimal use of all rooms.

A pleasant workplace does not just apply the spaces we work in. We also think about the work-life balance by offering various services. For example, we have an ironing service where you can bring your ironing during the day and take freshly ironed items back home, and a bread service where your order is ready to take home at 5 p.m. For a healthy body and mind, you can also exercise in our gym. A sports coach is there to make a programme for both the beginner and advanced athlete so that we can exercise in the afternoon or after hours, alone or with colleagues, and go home brimming with energy. Thanks to these work-life balance options during working hours, you will have more time with your family, relatives and friends.

Sustainability is also a never-ending process here. One of the things we are working on is the development of an app that switches your mobile to silent mode as soon as you enter an office. A study has shown that when someone's mobile phone rings, it takes 10 minutes to get back to the same level of concentration as before. In other words, prevention is better than cure.

Needless to say, we make sure to test and demonstrate all the options for a pleasant workplace. Are you also interested in ensuring the ideal working conditions for your employees?
