Corporate Social Responsibility at Encon

ISO 26000 is an international guideline for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

What is ISO 26000?

ISO 26000 provides tools to support organisations in fulfilling their social responsibility 'tailor-made'. ISO 26000 provides an answer to the how's and what's of CSR. It provides clear definitions and demarcation of CSR and sustainable development, as well as guidelines for the implementation of CSR in an organisation.

The ISO 26000 guideline was created for organisations in need of support in putting CSR into practice, with a view to contributing to sustainable development. The ISO 26000 international standard was registered and published unaltered as a Belgian standard by the Bureau for Standardisation (NBN). The Dutch version of this standard was drawn up by the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute (NEN) and integrally adopted by the NBN.

Encon and ISO 26000

Our aim as an organisation is to take responsibility for the impact of our business activities on people, the environment and business operations. CSR has been part of Encon's standards and values for many years, but we have also used ISO 26000 as a guideline to illustrate this. This international guideline allows us to demonstrably integrate CSR into our working methods and procedures.

The ISO 26000 guideline is the result of the largest international multi-stakeholder process ever in history. In other words, ISO 26000 is a well-founded umbrella of CSR initiatives that Encon has linked up with. This guideline is implemented not only formally but also in a practical way. The statement as well as the associated reference matrix and priorities matrix have been drawn up in accordance with NBN/NEN NPR9026.

  • ISO 26000:2010 Self-declaration

This document contains the official statement to the effect that Encon applies the principles and guidelines within NBN/NEN-ISO 26000:2010 and has reviewed and assessed the guideline using the process described in NPR9026:2011.

  • ISO 26000 Reference Matrix

The substantiation of the ISO 26000 self-declaration is included in the reference matrix, which contains the answers to the questions posed in the NPR9026:2011 and the corresponding sources. The publication of this document fulfils the unambiguity and transparency required for the ISO 26000 self-declaration of Encon.

  • ISO 26000 Priority Matrix

Encon has determined the relevance of the 37 CSR topics covered by ISO 26000. This resulted in 26 relevant topics. The significance of those 26 topics was determined by assessing their impact and influence. Their priority was consequently determined by level of impact and influence. The result of these actions is shown in the priority matrix and the reference matrix. Our priority matrix can be viewed here

  • Sustainability vision of Encon

Encon wants to be transparent in its CSR policy. In its sustainability vision, Encon provides an answer to how sustainability runs through its entire organisational policy and which objectives are linked to it. Our sustainability vision can be found here.
