Big steps towards a more sustainable fleet

Electric mobility offers a short-term solution to reducing the environmental impact of motorised passenger transport. All in all, electric cars offer significant advantages over conventional cars in terms of CO2 emissions, driving experience and operational cost, and contribute to the transition to sustainable mobility. It is therefore logical that the share of all-electric passenger cars continues to rise on the road. While the number of vehicles is rising, the charging infrastructure is progressing a little more slowly. It is therefore important to also look to the future and provide charging options.

Volvo Trucks Gent has understood it!

Our customers also clearly reflect the energy transition. A good example is the successful roll-out of charging infrastructure at Volvo Trucks in Ghent. This allows them to further grow their electric vehicle fleet, which is positive for making the business world more sustainable.

With the installation of 28 charging points in a first phase, they are off to a good start. This helps the current fleet to arrive at destinations charged. Depending on the growing demand for charging points, this number will be expanded to at least 168 charging points in the future.

Thanks to our expertise, we helped optimise the location and determine the number of charging points. Ensuring that the existing electric infrastructure is not overloaded and that charging is done with power from renewable energy sources is an important aspect of making the charging infrastructure sustainable.

The installation and optimisation of the infrastructure at Volvo Trucks Gent ensures the optimal use of its own generated energy. This whole project gives a fine perspective for the future of the electric fleet with a future-proof plan for possible expansion. This is a good example of how we can contribute to a more sustainable world!
