'Recharging' during your stay at A-Stay

The guest is king, and the king travels electrically! The Castle of Laeken has been equipped with charging stations since 2019, so the hospitality sector certainly cannot lag behind.

The 2030 Clean Power for Transport action plan drawn up by the Flemish government in response to the Energy and Climate Plan sets very strict yet necessary objectives for mobility. By 2030, all newly sold passenger cars and at least 30% of light trucks and delivery vans must be low-carbon.

With this in mind, more and more guests will be driving hybrids or even electric vehicles. For hotels, it means you will need to be prepared by having the infrastructure in place to cater to the needs of your guests and suppliers in terms of recharging their vehicles. Sustainability certifications for buildings also take this into account. To achieve a certain score, hotels, companies, hospitals, etc. must have a charging infrastructure.

Hotel A-Stay Antwerp, owned by construction group Besix, enlisted the help of Encon for a BREEAM certification. BREEAM is an independent international certification system that measures the sustainability of buildings. The BREEAM scheme introduced them to the TRA3 credit within the Transport category. This involves factoring in the availability of a sufficient number of electric charging points.

At A-Stay Antwerp, XXX were installed, sufficient to charge XXX electric cars in a timeframe of XXXX. This will also be taken into account at the planned A-Stay sites in Diegem and Moldavia.

Travel is becoming a more conscious activity for consumers, who are keen to find solutions to make their trip sustainable. Being able to travel with electric or hybrid vehicles will become even more important in the future, so it is an absolute must for hotels to offer such infrastructure.

Awareness-raising also plays a crucial role in this regard. By utilising these green developments, you can set an example for employees and guests.

Allow this to inspire what you can do to be among the frontrunners in the hospitality sector and be part of the future. Tap into this growing demand and go for a sustainable stay!
